Massage Therapy

Neck Massage
Meet Amelia

With Massage Therapy, we connect to all the systems of the body, enhancing circulation, strengthening the immune response, and decreasing inflammation. These improvements not only promote overall health but also help to relieve pain and reduce stress. Regular massage sessions can address past injuries and even prevent future ones, all while restoring calm and balance to the Central Nervous System.

Using a combination of Myofascial Release, Trigger Point, Stretching, Hot Stone, Rocking and Swedish massage techniques, my intention with massage is always to provide a relaxing, yet therapeutic experience.

What to Expect at a session:

We begin by discussing your health history and any goals you may wish to achieve, either long-term or specifically for that session.

Massage is performed with you undressed to your level of comfort. You will remain fully covered by a sheet or blanket throughout and I will undrape only the part of the body I am actively massaging. After the consultation, I will leave the room to allow you privacy to get on the massage table and knock before I re-enter.

The pressure of the massage is tailored to you, and I will check in with you at the beginning of the massage. However, communication is very important and if you feel like you need more or less pressure anywhere, anytime please do let me know and I will adjust to suit your needs.

I use a wax based massage medium that leaves your skin soft and moisturised. It is nut and palm-oil free. It contains Olive Fruit Oil, Beeswax, vitamin E, sunflower seed oil and arnica extract. Please let me know if you have any sensitivity to any of these ingredients before your appointment so that I may accommodate you with an alternative.

  • Fascia
Fascia is the matrix of connective tissue that lies beneath our skin. It encompasses all our individual muscles, organs, bones, blood vessels and nerve fibres. It is what keeps all these parts separate, able to easily move with each other and in the right places. It is also what connects and facilitates communication between these parts throughout the body. It is highly innervated, and recent research has found that the fascial network contains over 250 million nerve endings and pain receptors. When fascia is healthy, it moves and stretches as you do. When it is restricted, it can cause decreased range of motion and potentially pain. Restrictions in the fascia can be caused by many things: scar tissue from injury or surgery, repetitive motion, lack of movement, inflammation and even an unresolved reaction to physical or emotional trauma.
  • The Craniosacral System
The Craniosacral System consists of the bones and membranes that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. We can tune into the rhythm of the cerebrospinal fluid as it flows through this system from anywhere on the body through the fascia.
  • The Central Nervous System
The Central Nervous System regulates everything in the body. It collects information from the sensory nerves throughout the body (the peripheral nervous system), processes it and sends information back and forth from the spinal cord to the brain. How we think, move, feel, our breathing and heart rate as well as our hormones and body temperature are all controlled by the Central Nervous System.
